Spring ISD is a District of Choice FOCUS: High School Pathways

One of the best changes I have seen in Spring ISD is the number of choices students have to study what will prepare them for post-graduation careers and schools. Our wonderful Wunsche High School (https://www.springisd.org/Wunsche) began in 2006 as a career academy for students in grades 10-12. While I have served as a trustee, I have supported the spread of this type of career education combined with academics to all the comprehensive high schools—Dekaney HS, Spring HS, and Westfield HS.

I urge all community members, whether or not you have students in Spring ISD schools, to look at the online High School Education Planning Guide pp. 70-152 ( https://online.flippingbook.com/view/839504/ ) to the see the huge number of choices in education pathways that today’s Spring ISD students have in high school. The Education Planning Guide doesn’t just list classes, it gives students information about the salaries, certification tests (also offered by Spring ISD). and post-graduation trainings/degrees that are required to have different careers. I strongly support this increased emphasis on Career and Technical Education in an academic environment to make our students ready for a changing world.
