Justine Durant

Spring ISD Board of Trustees

Position #3

I have served on the Spring Independent School District (Spring ISD) since November 2006. Over the past 13 years, I have served in many roles on the Board including President, Vice President, and Assistant Secretary. I bring to the position 20+ years of experience as a volunteer in the Spring community, as a dedicated Board member, PTO President who launched both Claughton and Wunsche PTO’s, a former Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader, and as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, where I participate in many community service projects.

I am passionate about children and their education. My re-election would bring consistency in leadership to the Board during our district-wide strategic work to reach all students. I am extremely dedicated to continuing to improve student achievement, keeping our kids safe, governing through equitable policy and ensuring we remain fiscally responsible.
I also represent Spring ISD with TASB (Texas Association of School Board) as an Alternate Delegate on the Legislative Committee, lobbying in Austin for policy and funding to support public education. I always make the success of our scholars in our community a priority. My thirteen years of service to Spring ISD students have brought about many successes. However, there is still work to be done, which is why I am asking my community to allow me to finish the job and re-elect me in November 2019.

Our children are our #1 resource and we need to nurture them in a healthy environment with caring adults, enrichment activities, and engaging challenges to ensure they grow into successful productive citizens.

As a dedicated hard-working community member, I will continue to work hard for the success of all students in Spring ISD with a key focus on:

  • Continue improvement of student academics
  • Keeping our kids safe on our campuses
  • Teacher retention and development
  • Governing through equitable policy
  • Ensuring the Board is fiscally responsible
